Le 19 août 1942 s'écrivait en lettres de sang sur les plages de Dieppe en France une page controversée de l'histoire de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. En moins de neuf heures, près de 3000 soldats canadiens meurent ou sont faits prisonniers lors de la plus importante opération militaire menée par les alliés contre l'ennemi allemand depuis le début de la guerre. Mourir en France expose en détail, grâce à de nombreux documents d'archives, le déroulement de ce raid infernal et livre des témoignages bouleversants sur la vie et la mort de simples soldats canadiens-français. Un documentaire chargé d'émotions, qui reconstitue le jour où le Québec a découvert le poids du sacrifice. Abstract On august 19th 1942, a bloody page of World War II was written on the Dieppe beaches along the French coast. In less than nine hours, 3000 Canadian soldiers died or were being taken prisoners during the most important military operation conducted by the Allies since the beginning of the war. Among the battalions decimated, the French Canadian regiment Les Fusiliers Mont-Royal. Mourir en France recalls, through archives, how this dreadful raid took place. This one-hour film also gives vivid testimonies on the life and death of the first French Canadian soldiers to combat the Germans. A documentary filled with emotions, which brings back to memory the day Quebec discovered the burden of sacrifice.
