Martin Villeneuve s’est d’abord démarqué en publicité à travers Sid Lee et le Cirque du Soleil. En 2012, il a écrit, produit et réalisé son premier long métrage, MARS ET AVRIL, adapté de ses romans graphiques éponymes. Ce film de science-fiction fut présenté en première mondiale à Karlovy Vary, a ouvert la section FOCUS du FNC et a reçu 10 nominations, dont une pour la meilleure adaptation aux prix Écrans canadiens. À ce jour, il est le seul Québécois à avoir donné une conférence TED. En 2015, il a remporté un prix d’interprétation pour son court métrage IMELDA, dont il a tourné deux suites sorties en 2020. Son deuxième long métrage, la comédie dramatique LES 12 TRAVAUX D’IMELDA – avec Robert Lepage, Ginette Reno, Michel Barrette, Anne-Marie Cadieux et lui-même dans le rôle d’Imelda – est sorti à l’automne 2022 et a remporté trois prix : meilleur montage, meilleur acteur et meilleur réalisateur. Il a aussi réalisé la série animée RED KETCHUP, basée sur le personnage de bande dessinée à succès, sortie en 2023 sur les ondes de Télétoon la nuit. Entre autres projets, Villeneuve va réaliser MERCILESS, un thriller surnaturel écrit par Frank Hannah et mettant en vedette Jonathan Majors. // Martin Villeneuve initially gained recognition in advertising at Sid Lee and for Cirque du Soleil. He also directed RED KETCHUP, an animated series based on Quebec’s cult graphic novels, which premiered in 2023 on Adult Swim. Among other projects, Villeneuve is set to direct MERCILESS, a supernatural thriller written by Frank Hannah and starring Jonathan Majors.
